In Cambodia, Wine To Water is focused on providing wells, sanitation training, latrines, and filtration systems to the population of the Svey Reing province where the lack of water quality is severe.
This situation is causing critical health issues - diarrhoea being the first cause of child mortality under 5 years of age - and is seriously hindering basic economic development such as maintaining livestock or growing food.
Thanks to the support of RCRT, a total of 11,641 individuals have had their lives transformed through the provision of water and improved sanitation & hygiene – this excellent result almost doubled the original objectives and has been achieved by targeting high impact locations such as schools and community gathering points.
In addition, RCRT funded the purchase of an air compressor in a view to enable the excavation of deeper and higher capacity wells through harder soil and rock. This long term investment is expected to support a commercially sustainable well-drilling business, whose proceedings will be reinvested in further charity water projects.
